🚀🙏 5 Essential Wavebox Browser Hacks I Can't Live Without.

Hey, Susan here—Co-Founder of Wavebox!

I use Wavebox every single day to run Wavebox, from answering support tickets to designing the UI. In fact, I haven’t touched Chrome or any other browser since 2016! 👍

My setup revolves around workflows and I create workflows using groups in the webdock (sidebar). Groups bring together the apps, websites, and tabs I need to complete a task. such as managing social media, booking a trip away, or replying to billing inquiries.

These workflows help me stay focused and move seamlessly between tasks. Over the years, I’ve refined my process to be as efficient as possible, and I’m excited to share the 5 essential Wavebox hacks I use daily to keep everything organized and running smoothly.

🌊 Let’s dive in!

1) Search / Browse Group

I've created a group at the top of my webdock—in all my 6 Spaces—for general search and browsing. When I'm busy working on a task but need to do a quick search or visit a website that's not in my current workflow, I jump to this group and open a new tab. I do this quite often in one day. The new tab is kept tidy and doesn't interfere with my existing workflow.

Try it:

  • Click + in the wedbock to create a new group, and name it 'Search'
  • Click the 'Start with Tabs' button
  • Drag the Group to the top of the webdock
  • Right-click on the group, then click the group icon to customize it.
  • At the end of each day, I right-click on the group and select 'Close all Tabs' from the menu to stay tidy.

2) 'Right-click>Move tab to'

I use this alongside (1), and it's an absolute time-saver. Most of my workflows span different groups, so I always have tabs that I need somewhere else or want to keep for later.

Example - I'm browsing LinkedIn and find a recommendation for a new AI web tool, so I visit the website in a new tab. I like it, so I move the tab to my AI group to use later.

Try it:

  • Right-click on any tab
  • Click 'Move tab to'
  • Choose a Group from the list.
  • The tab will move, and you'll be taken to the new Group.
  • Use the Ctrl+Q shortcut to return to the original Group.
  • Tip! You can drag the tab too!

3) 'Right-click > Boost into App'

Apps are just tabs with extra features—they stick around in the top left-hand corner of a Group and appear in the Group Tooltip so I can grab them from anywhere in Wavebox.

One quick way to create an app is by boosting a tab, which takes a fraction of a second. Once done, you can enjoy sticky sign-in, unread badges, desktop notifications, custom sleep settings, and link-opening rules for that app.

💡
An app can be anything - a Google Drive folder, and excel file, a ClickUp workspace or YouTube Channel etc. If it as a URL, it can be an app.

Examples - I must have around 100 apps in my Wavebox, including Slack, Gmail, Discord, LinkedIn, Ghost, ClickUp etc—I'm always creating new apps from a tab, so that I can save items in the tooltip!

Try it:

  • Right-click on a tab and pick 'Boost into App'
  • Right-click on a page 'Boost page into App'
  • In the pop-up, choose a match from the App Store, or create a custom app.
  • The new app icon will appear in the group tabstrip top-left.

This is an amazing combo. So, I'm busy in one workflow group, but I need to refer to another app/tab somewhere else in Wavebox....but, where is it? No problem, Wavebox has me covered. I use split-screen on the fly to seamlessly find what I need in a matter of seconds.

Try it:

  • From any app/tab, click on the split-screen icon in the address bar.
  • Select 'Split within this window' to open a new tab.
  • Hit the Global Search icon in the top-right
  • Search for the app/tab and select it. It appears in split-screen, alongside my original app/tab.
  • Click the split-screen icon again to return to full screen.

5) Add the Same App Twice (in the same Space)

If you're anything like me, there are some apps you use for everything. I use Ghost for our KB and Blog, which means I need the app in both my Support and Blog groups. But when you add a second app of the same type in Wavebox it suggests creating a new space for it, which isn't really needed because I'm using the same sign-in.

💡 But there is a workaround that lets you add multiple apps of the same type to a space, if they share the same login.

Example: I have the same Google Drive app in my Support, Socials, and Finance groups, and I have my Ghost app in both Support and Blog groups. I can add these apps to as many groups as I like because they use the same login!

Try it:

  • Click + to add an app, or right-click 'Boost into app' on any tab/page.
  • If Wavebox prompts you to create a new space, choose "Keep the same space."
  • The app will be added and will stay correctly signed-in.
💡
⚠️ Note! Apps of the same type that have different logins MUST be placed in separate spaces if you want to stay correctly signed-in.

By using these 5 simple Wavebox hacks daily, I can stay organized, work smarter, and keep my workflows running smoothly—without the usual browser chaos! 🚀

These little tricks make a huge difference, whether it’s quickly moving tabs, boosting apps for extra control, or using split-screen to find what I need in seconds. Wavebox is built for productivity, and I love discovering new ways to make it work even better for me.

Give them a try and let me know your favorite hacks—I’d love to hear how Wavebox helps you stay in the flow! 😊
