How do I mute app notification sounds in Wavebox?

Wavebox gives you the tools to customize how notifications work across your apps. This includes setting notification sounds, customizing them for specific apps, or turning them off completely. Here's how you can turn off all notification sounds or turn them off for a selection of apps.

If apps continue to make notification sounds

Some sites can continue to make notification sounds. This is because instead of asking Wavebox to show a notification, they play a sound to indicate something new. It's not possible to mute these sounds as the site could be playing them to indicate something new, as part of a video, or something else. Most sites provide a way to turn these sounds off. If this is the case, here's what you can do:

Determine where the sound is coming from:

  • Click on the app burger menu at the top right of any window and then select Wavebox Mini. Once Wavebox Mini has opened, click on the Notifications tab. Next time the sound plays, if the site has also shown a notification, you will see a new app notification at the top of the list.
  • Wavebox will also show the audio playing indicator on the group and app when a site plays a sound. You may be able to spot which app is playing the sound, which might help you locate it.

Once located:

Most sites have an option to turn sounds off through their own settings. If you cannot find this, search the web for "Disable notification sounds in X app," and you will normally find a link to a help article on their website.
